8 News on Spanberger’s call to cancel the event: “We reached out to the Earl Sears campaign, but we have not yet received a response”

VIRGINIA  – Following Democratic Nominee for Governor Abigail Spanberger’s call for Winsome Earle-Sears to cancel her event with out-of-state billionaire and chief DOGE architect Vivek Ramaswamy, 8 News reports that Sears has refused to comment or cancel the event – doubling down on her support of policies that led to thousands of Virginians losing their jobs.

• Anchor: And in the race for governor, Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Abigail Spanberger took to X to call out her opponent Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears.
• Anchor: Spanberger is calling on Sears to cancel her campaign rally in Chesterfield this Friday with the billionaire and Republican gubernatorial candidate for Ohio, Vivek Ramaswamy.
• Anchor: Ramaswamy was one of the original leaders of the Department of government efficiency, or DOGE, which aimed to cut what he deemed waste, fraud and abuse from the federal government. The controversial cuts, though, cost thousands of federal government workers their jobs, impacting Virginia more than most states.
• Abigail Spanberger: Frankly, I am calling on my opponent to cancel her rally, her event, with this individual who is responsible for so many Virginians losing their jobs. It's frankly, the least that she can do. She won't defend Virginians who are losing their jobs. She won't defend Virginia's economy, but she shouldn't invite him here, if she can't even do that now, Virginians certainly should not expect her to stand up for them as Governor.
