CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA – Today, local elected leaders held the final stop of the “Real Issues” tour, a series of events across the Commonwealth highlighting the devastating fallout of Donald Trump’s job and healthcare cuts that Winsome Earle-Sears backs.
During an interview with CNN when asked about Trump’s attacks on Virginia, Sears said they aren’t “real issues” despite the devastating consequences Virginians are facing.
“As chaos continues to pour out of Washington, Winsome Earle-Sears hasn’t listened to Virginians or fought for the Commonwealth. She’s sided with Donald Trump every single time. Just look at what’s happened to Virginia this year as Trump enacted widespread healthcare cuts. 350,000 Virginians are at risk of losing their healthcare, at least six rural hospitals are at risk of closing, and there are three rural clinics closing right now in the Shenandoah Valley,” said Delegate Amy Laufer.
“For many Virginians, medical costs from doctors appointments to prescription drugs will increase. For others, they’ll lose access to the home healthcare they need. And some Virginians will even lose their insurance outright,” said Delegate Katrina Callsen. “We deserve a leader who understands that and who is committed to protecting access to healthcare and keeping Virginia affordable. It’s why I’ll be supporting Abigail Spanberger for Governor.”

- In an interview with CNN, when asked about the hundreds of thousands of Virginians who are facing healthcare cuts as a result of the Trump tax bill Winsome Earle-Sears backed, Sears outright lied saying “there are no Virginians who are going to lose Medicaid coverage in Virginia unless that's something that they choose” and then claimed “we're not taking anyone off the Medicaid rolls.”
Sears lied to Virginians by pushing claims that she can use Virginia’s “rainy day” reserve to cover Medicaid cuts even though the math doesn't add up.
